Safari Itinerary

3-Day Tsavo East and Saltlick Safari
Day 1 Mombasa to Tsavo East National Park
Morning Drive & Arrival
Start with an early morning pick-up from your Mombasa hotel or Diani Beach. Drive directly to Tsavo East National Park, famous for its red-dusted elephants and the scenic Yatta Plateau. Enter the park and begin a game drive en route to your accommodation.
Afternoon Game Drive
Check-in and enjoy lunch at your lodge or camp. The afternoon is dedicated to a thrilling game drive, offering opportunities to spot lion, buffalo, giraffe, and the large herds of elephants the park is known for.
Evening & Focus
Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp. The focus of the day is experiencing the sheer scale and iconic wildlife of Tsavo East.
Day 2 Tsavo East to Saltlick Safari Lodge
Early Morning Safari & Transfer
Embark on a very early morning game drive to catch predators during the cooler hours. Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Continue with a game drive as you exit Tsavo East, heading towards the nearby Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.
Afternoon Arrival & Lodge Experience
Arrive at the Sanctuary and check in at Taita Hills Lodge for lunch. Afterwards, transfer to the iconic Saltlick Safari Lodge, built on stilts and overlooking a floodlit watering hole. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the sanctuary.
Evening & Focus
Dinner and overnight at Saltlick Lodge. The highlight is the safe, unparalleled night game viewing from the lodge's elevated vantage points.
Day 3 Saltlick to Mombasa (Departure)
Final Game Drive
After an early morning breakfast, take one final game drive in Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. This is your last chance to spot any animals missed, particularly the big cats or nocturnal visitors leaving the watering hole.
Departure & Road Transfer
Check out and begin the road transfer back to the coast. You will be dropped off at your hotel in Mombasa or Diani Beach in the afternoon, concluding your safari adventure.

  1. Best Time to Visit: The dry season (June to October) is ideal for wildlife viewing, as animals gather around water sources. However, these parks are accessible year-round.
  2. Health and Safety: Ensure you have the necessary vaccinations and carry anti-malarial medication. Travel insurance is highly recommended.
  3. Packing Essentials: Comfortable safari clothing, a good camera, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
