Day 1 Coastal Pick-up and Game Drive in Tsavo East
Morning Departure & En-Route Game Drive
Start with an early morning pick-up from your coastal hotel (Mombasa or Diani). Drive to Tsavo East National Park, entering for an immediate en-route game drive. This park is famous for its dust-red elephants and sweeping, open vistas.
Lunch & Afternoon Game Drive
Check in and enjoy lunch at your pre-booked accommodation near Voi. The afternoon is dedicated to an extensive game drive, focusing on the park's highlights like the Aruba Dam area, crucial for spotting lions, buffalo, and migratory birds.
Focus: Spotting the infamous maneless lions and witnessing the spectacular sight of elephants bathing in the red mud.
Evening
Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp in Tsavo East.
Day 2 Tsavo East to Tsavo West & Rhino Sanctuary
Morning Drive & Transfer
After an early breakfast, check out and embark on a game drive as you exit Tsavo East, traveling towards the distinct, more mountainous landscapes of Tsavo West National Park.
Lunch & Volcanic Scenery
Check into your lodge (Ngulia or Kilaguni Serena are common choices) for lunch, enjoying the dramatic volcanic views.
Afternoon Game Drive & Rhino Sanctuary
The afternoon game drive explores the western park, which features geological wonders like the Shetani Lava Flow. Crucially, you will visit the heavily protected Rhino Sanctuary, providing an excellent opportunity to see the endangered black rhino.
Day 3 Mzima Springs Exploration & Coastal Return
Morning Game Drive to Mzima Springs
Start the day with a final morning game drive. Your main destination is Mzima Springs, a series of four natural springs fed by the Chyulu Hills. Explore the springs via walking trails and the famous underwater viewing chamber to see hippos, crocodiles, and fish in the clear waters.
Breakfast & Departure
Enjoy breakfast before commencing the final game drive en-route as you exit Tsavo West National Park.
Return to the Coast
Begin the road transfer back to your coastal base. You will arrive at your hotel in Mombasa or Diani Beach in the afternoon, concluding your memorable safari.
